My name is Ben, I am a developer and designer focusing on interactive projects for the web using PHP, MySQL, Jquery, AJAX, RSS, XML/XSL, CSS and of course XHTML. I use <div> and don't like <table>, can use ActionScript but prefer to use JavaScript. I enjoy making the web a nicer place for everyone with graphics and compliancy for all...
I like to develop my skills everytime I work on a project. New technology excites me such as the wave of Javascript frameworks and AJAX webs. I look to utilise these accessible plugin-less methods rather than Adobe Flash due to W3C standards, search engine optimisation and accessibility goals being of primary concern.
After testing most of the javascript libraries I decided to utilise Jquery in my projects as I like the methodology.
I have been producing web applications for about four years now using object orientated PHP and MySQL. I have worked on IIS in the past with ASP and MS SQL, I am sure my skills will transfer to Windows servers if required.
For the past couple of years I have been the search engine optimisation specialist, making recommendations and amendments to existing websites for higher rankings on Google and Yahoo.
I like to validate my projects through W3C as it gives me a warm feeling inside when I see the green tick.
XML is a format I utilise on most projects through RSS but also just for semantic use of data. I am currently looking into XSL transformation for use within a SOAP powered desktop app.
